In Class 9/23 Assignment
I want to show that Immigrants are essential in more ways than people give them credit for, and to show that Immigrants are people just like us with problems trying to make their lives better.
homework 9/23
The evidence that can be used in the article I have read is the fact that immigrants are not the criminals who arrive in any country they decide to arrive in. Having known that their are crimainals that are born and raised all the time and having immigrants be blamed for being the criminals. The immigrants I believe that are not the ones here to be blamed for the hard work and effort that they give when they arrive in any country. The clain is that criminals are not foriengers they are most likely the ones that are born in whatever country.
Immigration arguments 9/23/2008
In the article “Migrant studies counter negative images” there is plenty of evidence to discard the popular beliefs that immigrants hurt the economy. In fact according to the article immigrants actual help the economy. A study done by the Public Policy Institute of California found that immigrants who came here between the years of 1990 and 2004 helped boost the wages of native workers by 4 percent. The UC economist Giovanni Peri says this is so because when immigrants take the lower end jobs that pushes native workers up the economic ladder into employment that requires more English or more knowhow of the U.S system.
The claim or argument that I want to write in my essay is that the only immigrants that come to the US should be legal immigrants. The argument that I have evidence of the fact that other immigrant s only compete with other immigrants and if they choose to do so then they should go back to where they are originally from and let the ones that live here have the jobs and the housing. The share of the work force dropped from 65% in 2000 and to 62% in 2005. the study also states that it is discurging natives from moving to the state and taking advantage of higher paying jobs opprtunites. my argument would go toward that the immigrants shouldnt be allowed to do those type of things unless they were legal.
Migrant studies counter negative images
My opinion for this article is that the United States, without immigrants, wouldn't be as efficient as it is right now. I dont think Americans would take a minimum payed job, but on the other hand an immigrant would take any kind of job as long as they are working and support their family. This is why there is no job competition. i dont think that immigrants are the ones causing more crimes and braking the laws, i say more americans are comitting more crimes.
In class Assighnment
I believe that immigrants are beneficial to our economy. Due to studies that have been done, they have provided evidence that they boost our wages by 4%. They also take the jobs that no other native-born would want to do, for example picking fruit. I think they have also pushed native-born citizens to perform better in competitive work. So far that i could see, I dont feel that they are damaging our economy.
In class Assigment
I think all the things that it say in the document are true because without the immigrant the U.S. wouldn't increase the wages for the native workers by an average 4%, some benefits were shared by all native-born workers, from High School dropouts to college graduates. ALL their work shows that immigrants clearly benefit U.S. resisdents and are being unfair scapegoated for problems they do not cause.
Migrant studies counter negative images
Today in our society no American "white boy" would be willing to do the hard labor that immigrants are doing. Immigrants are filling lower skilled jobs, they are raising the natives up the economic ladder into employment. Immigrants who arrived in the state between 1990 and 2004 increased wages by an average 4%. It seems to me that we need immigrants because if we didn't have them who would do those hard labor jobs, i know i wouldn't want to. They work hard long hours with the sun beating down on them all hours of the day with there backs hunched over. In the article the author states "immigrants clearly benefit U.S. residents and are being unfairly scapegoated for problems they do not cause.
ARTICLE
I agree with UC Davis economist Giovanni Peri in the article "Migrant Stidies Counter Negative Images". I agree with him because he states that there is no big loss from immigration. There is no loss in the U.S. instead we have gains from it. One of the gains is that the immigrants work in places were U.S citizens would not like to work at.Someone has to do the job. Immigrants benifit the U.S in the economy and in the population growth.
In Class Assignment Tuesday 9/23
In the article "Migrant Studies Counter Negative Images" has proven to me that immigrants do not increase crime rate here in California. Native born citizens have a higher incarceration rate than immigrants and there is studies to prove this. In fact Immigrants help the native born citizens because they help boost their wages. Immigrants instead fill the lower skilled jobs and the native born take the better jobs because they know more English than immigrants do, so the immigrants are helping the native born and instead people are writing negative things about immigrants and making them look bad and immigrants do not feel welcome when they are helping us a lot in economy by doing the jobs that native born's do not want to do.
In Class Ass. Tuesday Sept 23.08
In "Migrant Studies Counter Negative Images" My argument is I agree with Teresa Wantab. I have evidence stating that immigrants do not cause problems in the Country they actually help out natives.Immigrants do help help native-born citizens in a positive way. Immigrants help boost wages in the economy for native-citizens. Studies prove that native citizens are now making more money then they did before immigrants came into the country, all because immigrants are taking over all they low skilled jobs that do not pay much for the intense labor they do. Forcing native-born citizens to challenge themselves into getting a higher paid job that requires more English spoken throughout the job.
Immigrants
My argument is that a lot of immigrants are blamed for bad things they don't do. And there is proof in some studies made recently in U.S.A.
In class 9/23 Arguments
One argument I can definitely make using the article is that immigrants helped native Americans economically. The evidence is that Teresa Watanabe presents two studies. One study is from the Public Policy of California. The other is by the Immigration Policy Center based in Washington. The studies are based U.S. census data. The information I got from reading this article was enlightening to me. I personally have been helped up the economic ladder and didn't even realize it. Although I have benefited from immigrants I know that this view is only one side of the coin.
Migrant studies counter negative images
From what i have read my argument towards immigrants is basically stated in the article "Migrant studies counter negative images" Teresa Watanabe defends immigrants in way they actually do have a positive impact in todays society. She gives us facts in which mainly all of immigrants work and perform complementary jobs rather then the skilled jobs. They actually have help our society in ways many Americans would not take the complementary jobs. I believe without immigrants in todays world our society would not be as efficient as it is. With that stated "A day without an immigrant" would take a major toll in todays society. Due to the fact Immigrants offer things that are positive in which we barely even notice. However in many Americans eyes It seems that our economy is overpopulated with immigrants. In which i believe due to they do make up a mass majority in todays world. To the extent i do believe our immigration laws should be enforced.
immigration article argument
I think that immigrants help the united states out by doing the jobs that normal american citizens do not want to do. I do not think immigrants would want to come to the united states to commit crimes. They would want to come here and work. when I go out looking for a job a go to department stores and retail stores. I dont go to the fields to find a job or go to a back braking job where I have to wake up early
Migrant Studies Argument
I believe that without immigrants the U.S would not be able to function.People say that the immigrants are the ones who are comming to this country and geting in trouble with the law, but it is proven that immigrant men ages 18 to 39 had an incarceration rate of five times lower than native-born citizens in every ethinic group.
Class asigment

My type of argument i will make is according what i read so far. I am agree with some point. my argumentation will be as positively reflexion of immigrant problems and qualities. I will like to claim humans rights and responsibilities as foreign born. i will claim human natural rights. These laws cannot be corrupted no exceptions.

Senator Evans says while each country may have different concerns then his own countries there is recognition that is essential for security and stability throughout the region. He wants to reinforce there willingness Evans just wants to reenstate the cooperation and management of illegal movement of people across borders but also understanding their needs.

Lookout for the Raids
Work-site raids are jailing thousands of illegal workers, immigration organizations are geting information to help out the laborers. Citizens of every type are helping give organizations tips on where the customs enforcements agents will be. Socorro Leos, a community organizer for Mississippi Immigrants' Rights Alliance is training people to be alert for the ICE. Although the immigrants are getting help it is making ICE's job very difficult to accomplish.
I dont agree that we should have raids to gather all the illegal immigrants. They are having people in fear that if they go work to feed there family, they mite not be able to see their family again. Immigrants leave their difficulties of their homeland to come to the U.S to be free, but instead they live in fear. I think they should incourage illegal immigrants to get proper documents, instead of scaring them.

U.S. Immigration history and the future
My article talks about how people in the government are making bills to stop illegal immigration into to the US. They are also trying to find all immigrants and send them back to their country. They believe that by having the immigrants here it is disturbing the economy, because they are not paying taxes and medical expenses. I believe that all immagrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S because obviously they came to work hard and provide for their families. Which is not something that most Americans are doing.
Immigrants' arrest
1.) My article took place in San Francisco. It was about four women and two men were booked into custody and a 15 year old girl was questioned at the residence. Virginia Kice, a spokesman for immigration and customs enforcement, went to the home seeking three adults who were being oredered to be deported by a federal judge and when the officers arrived, they found three other adults. They were undocumnted and living in the country illigally and arrested them all. But the girl had an application to stay in the country legally so she was not taken away.
2.) The article did not show enough evidence because they are still investigating. They entered the residence without a warrant so that is why they are still deciding on what to do because they did not expected to find more people in that home.
3.) I did not like the fact that they took the other people away because the whole purpose was to get the ones they were suppose to get. By taking them all away, they left the girl on her own. It was cruel to do that.

Imigration
In my article they talked about a raid in Palm Springs. There was a bakery there that had people working there that had no or fake social security numbers. In the raid they found 51 illegal immigrants and the supervisor and manager will both face criminal charges.Authorities said that the immigrants each paid $3000 to get a job by the bakery, many of the people said the were here illegally.I think that in staed of senbding these people back to where they were or puting them in jail, we should give them jobs because atleast they want to work hard; and that is something that not alot of people do!
Baby Bust
The argument in this article is that they are saying that the only thing keeping americas populution from shrinking is Hispanic fertility. which helps with the nations economic growth. progressives can rejoice in finding an argument for liberal immigration policy that will appeal to the conservatives. If the population declines presents the end of no dillemas, from a shrinking tax base to a shallower labor pool. The conservatives are pleased because the growth sector of America's populace holds socially conservative positions on moral and and cultral issues like abortion. the evidence is that this came from the data of the Census Bureau. I agree with this writer because the hispanics do help a lot in america and they are helping the economy with population growth because hispanic women have more children than a white woman would, but some people think that the more population that it leads to more environmental devastation but i dont agree to this at all because there is no facts to prove that the more population there is the worst the environment becomes.
immigration
The article I read was about how immigration was trying to be controlled. Seeing how we can maintian the immigration is it possible to tell them what they can do and where they can live. They have also have statistcs that show how they have increased amount of immigrants that have entered other countries that are highly skilled workers. These results show us that its not so bad to have immigrants they actually help the economy. In some cases the economy is being helped and havin these countries do fine.
who are the criminals?
My article was about how an immagrate family was sleeping when the police came in the night and broke down there door. They told everyone to get down and put your hand behind your back. Kepping in mind that noone in the house had a criminal record. The agents rummaged through all the dresser drawers, disconnected the computer, ransacked the closets, ripped the clothes off the racks in the closets. The police told the neighbors not to come out of their houses. One woman was holding a four month-old baby and the other woman told the agents she was pregnant. The ICE ordered the two women out of the way.One woman was holding a four month-old baby and the other woman told the agents she was pregnant. The ICE ordered the two women out of the way. Jose's mother told ICE agents that her son, who was on the floor face down, had a heart condition. They ignored her. They took the two men away, and when they were outside, one of the agents said they were going to take the car. The woman said that the car was not in her husband's name and told them that she had doctors appointments for the babies and needed the car. They left the car. The eight year-old boy, a U.S. citizen, told us that the agents threatened to shoot his pregnant dog.
I dont understand why they were attacking this one family and not going after the illegal immagrants that actaully had criminal records. I can understand when the government takes away the immagrants that are illegal and are doing illegal activity, but i dont understand when they attack and harrass immagrants that have no criminal record. If immagrants that are good people want to come to america or california i have no problem with that. But if immagrants are going to make it worse and start doing illegal things then they should go back to there country. I think everyone should get a green card though, wouldnt it just be easier on everyone?

immigration!
My article is about a congress enacted law ment to protect illegal imagrants who were victims of a crime. claiming to be a crime victim, however its not enough to get a U visa.Applicants have to prove they suffered for eaxample, rape, sexual assult, torture ect.no application for a U visa is completewith out a certificate from federal, state or local law enforcement.
immigration!
My article is about immigrants being smuggled into the country illegally. In my article the border patrol caught a semi smuggling in immigrants in the trailer. these immigrants were in there for days; no fresh air, hardly any food, and no place to go to the bathroom. i feel like immigrants will do pretty much anything to be part of this country and i think that it should be ok for some immigrants to come to the U.S.
Immigration
1. My Article was about immigrants working at this company called Howard Industries. The government had a suspicion of illegal immigrants working there and raided the company. The people said no charges have been made on that Monday. Other companies that are similar just as Howard Industries are being raided as well another industries in Iowa denied 400 other workers.
2. The writers evidence actually showed plenty of evidence by getting pictures and news reporters detailing every detail of what went on that day. The Bush administrative was even involved with the story and they did not deport the immigrants from the Iowa Incident.
3. I have a strong opinon of both because I think they should be able to work for us. Then again there are too many of them and when they get injured who pays for it? we do.

immigration
the article is about immigrants leaving or are they going to different places. It was affecting this man named Gil who own a restraunt. Oklahoma had just passed a house bill 1804. The number of illegal immigrants drooped by 12.5 million in may 2007 to 11.2 million august of this year. A spokesman from the National Immigration Forum, Doug Rivilin believs they are not going back they are just moving to different states where they are not the focus on and can work like Texas. I think they should let them work. they didn't come to America to do nothing they came to work and make a better life for them and most likely their family too. they should give them slack give them a chance to become legal. If it wasn't for my grandpa coming to America in the bracero program i would have not been here. America is a melting pot of immigrants we all are immigrants. What happen to land of the free.
Immigrant youths explore identity school
My article was research on how immigrant teens refer to call themselves such as Mexican American or Asian American rather than Mexican or Asian. Research also shows if their parents were foreign-born and the child was born in America that they usually refer to themselves as Chinese or Mexican or Asian.

The War on Immigrants: Stories from the Front Lines
The article i read was about war on immigrants. This article basically states in which what the ICE does to capture immigrants. They have code names in which are Operation Endgame and Return to Sender in which the ICE target immigrants are treat them as if they are hardened criminals. In 2007 the ICE arrested 30,000 immigrants, without the right to appoint a lawyer. Also in some states, laws are passed in which if sheltered an immigrant there shall be punishment. For example in the state of MISS if immigrants have jobs and caught they can face a year in prison or severer fines. This article also states in which raids often occur and when occurred all of them are reported to border patrol. When raided many face evictions from the U.S.A and with very little notice causing baby's to be parent less. The writer states in which the key to fix immigrant and protect our national security at the same time is to enforce laws reasonably. In which i totally agree to. Due to the fact if immigrants were such a big deal these days they wouldn't be here. At the same time look around at all the jobs are done by Immigrants. The writer states our focus shouldn't be on immigrants right now, it should be focused on something else that is a threat. This topic is a controversial topic. Because there pros and cons. A day with out immigrants would take a major poll on our economy. In which we need immigrants to keep our economy running efficient.
Campaign'08
1) Mc Cain is a Republican candidate for president. McCain have already solutions to control immigration. Arizona 10% of its population represents people who live illegaly in the country of U.S. McCain probably have the solution to control it. The disvantage is that in Arizona factories are nonresidents. it probably affect economy of Arizona. Immigration problems are in all U.S.A.
2)
a) 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S i s going to have their citizenship
b)Maricopa county sheriff enforce the laws and they arrest 10,000 people [illegally immigrants] in ten cities.
c) In a factory there are 100 illegally employes average.
3) My point of view of immigrants is i am agree to enforce law to those illegally people. I understand many of those peolple are helping in someway, but the problem is for trouble people. I suggest to enforce some kind of law where could be more strictlly for heavy drinkers most of them are illegally persons and in some way they will make a problem that could be a problem without solution because of its status. car owners without licesense and Insurance probably are illegally persons we must to enforce a law to proctect drivers for those persons.

Homework 9/16
1)My Article is from a British newspaper. The writer states that the reason why the U.S. is pushing Stricter Immigration laws are due to Anti-immigration groups. He states that these immigration groups are white supremacists and that their statistics are wrong. He goes on to say that He has found that scientific studies show that Illegal immigrants have no impact on our environment. He even says that immigrants help the slow the population because they are less likely to reproduce away from their home land.....
2) I didn't see any evidence to back up this writer's claim. He was making claims and didn't offer any hard facts like specific studies from respected organizations or scientific groups.
3)I don't agree at all with this article. The reason I don't agree is that there are no hard facts to back this up. I think the writer was mixing up Illegal immigrants with just immigrants and that's a big difference. Personally I feel that we do need a stronger border in California.

Immigration is good for U.S and native born workers
In Postville, Iowa, The Jewish community was showing compassion to the undocumented workers and they feel that if any body who needs help they are there to help them. They feel that we should welcome the “strangers” and just let them work her because we need more people to work for the economy. The article states that it Is in our countries best interest to work together toward constructive, compassionate and reasoned change in our nations immigration policy. I disagree with this article in so many ways. One reason is because I think that only the legal ones should be allowed to continue to work here, and the illegal ones should be sent back to where ever they are from, also the article states that 389 undocumented illegal immigrants are working in the meatpacking, and I feel that they are taking other peoples jobs that are her and were born her and they don’t have a job because those 389 people are taking the jobs that the illegal workers are working, that is my strong opinion.
Bush widens worker checks
The Bush administration is calling for aggressive action against illegal workers by forcing all companies doing business with the Federal Government to ensuring there employs are legal U.S citizens. They will do this by using a system called E-Verify to check workers Social Security numbers. The E-Verify system is already being use by 69,000 companies, and an estimated 1,000 firms are signing up weekly for a free internet based system. “E-Verify has already been a success in the past”, Chertoff said. But Timothy D. Sparapani of the American Civil Liberties Union argued that E-Verify is “not really immigration enforcement” because the system has failed to detect people who have used papers stolen from legal workers. From what I have read this system may not be fool proof, but at least it is a start to cracking down on illegal immigration.
Homework 9/16
I read an article about U-Visas which help immigrants stay in the United States legally. Immigrants can stay in the U.S for about four years. While there stay here they can try to fix there papers and become residents. In those four years if nothing happens they must go back to their country. If an immigrant came to the U.S illegally and were abused and have proof they may be allowed to stay a longer time. If an immigrant is being abused in any way and they report it to the police they won't be deported. No application for the U-visa is complete without a certificate from federal, state or local law enforcement, a prosecutor or a judge, attesting to the applicant's cooperation with a criminal investigation. There are a lot of cases in which immigrants don't get deported if they report a crime like Jose Suarez, a 38 year old illegal immigrant from El Salvador who was beaten in a robbery and who helped convict his attacker. I think the U visas are a good idea because immigrants can come to the United States to work and see how the life is here. I don't think immigrants are criminals because many come here to work. I agree with this article because many people come to the U.S to work and make a better living for there family like my parents. If they would have been deported I myself would have been an immigrant. Now my parents are legal residents because they have been living here for many years.
In the los Angeles County, about 75% of the immaigrants who reenter the United States engage in more criminal activites within a year. These immigrants are more likely to commit a crime than over an over then other immigrants, says the study by the nonprofit Rand orp.
A study limited its results to 517 male immigrants released from L.A. county jails between Aug 4th and Sept 2 2002 and last year in October U.S. attorney's office in L.A. prosecuted 500 illegal immigrants who had returned to the U.S. after being deported. Most of them recieved three to five year sentences, these cases make up about one third of all federal prosecutions in the L.A. and surrounding couties.
This report shows that immigrants get in commit crimes are deported then they make there way back an commit more crimes. We need to crack down on the border an any other places that these immigrants can be leaking in from, and if its called for give them more time for there crimes.

Study finds 11% drop in illegal immigrants
A report in Washington by the center for immigration studies says that the number of illegal immigrants fell about 11% between last August and May, from 12.5 million to 11.2 million.
The data of this drop suggested that the number of illegal immigrants that have left this contry in their own is laarger than those removed from the government.
I think that so many people left because they did not want to be removed from the government. Many people also probably left because of the economy of this country.

Auto
Born in the beautiful city of Goleta, California,
A baby child off to a long journey ahead of him,
Growing up adventuring the swampy creeks,
Discovering many spices of frogs and fish,
Riding my bike listening to the wind zoom by my ears,
Plucking long strains of grass to produce a nuce,
As the scaly lizards were then obtained,
Roaming my neighborhood on the hot sunny days,
Darting up and down the street as the neighborhood kids would take part in laser tag,
As the years gusted by here I arrive in Ventura,
Flying through middle school, Big bad high school had arrived ,
Participating in Athletics,
As the long sore practices stunned my body,
Hearing the Whistle blow sounded kick off,
Running up skyline to prepare for the glorious track meets,
Runners on your marks, Get set, Bang!!!!
Running as fast as possible I heard the chants from supporting friends and parents,
When the last 50 meters had arrived my legs felt like a 1000 pounds,
The day had come, Graduation!!!!
Never felt so accomplished, As the thrilled students marched the burning hot turf
Up north, seeing nothing but Cow girls and Cow boys,
As the Good Ol Toby Keith prepared to rock the stage,
Where as in the Mountains of Tahoe ,
I saw the beauty of pure white hills,
Where I then experienced, The fluffy white snow tap my face
Stuck in snow up to my waist, I faced a situation
Was it life or death?
Trying not to panic, I made my way up the beastly hill
I could not imagine if I had not been rescued,
My father, A strong and determined man, where as my mother a strict and loving parent,
George, my brother is one I look up to,
I have felt the emotional deep pain of losing a loved one,
Summer, one I will never forget as many move on into the future,
Everyday I look at the beauty of being here on earth
And live life to its fullest with no regrets!

I was born in a warm Wednesday in the month of June of 1990. I love Mago de Oz music.
My second boyfriend gave me my first love kiss. I have felt the pain of losing a grandparent. Once I fall at work, but nothing happened to me. My cousin Tito came back safe from Iraq. My Aunt just had a baby girl with beautiful green eyes. I have loved my first dog, a huge and playful French Puddle, her name was Coca. My best friend cried when I left Mexico three years ago. I have never taken drugs. I have experienced how it feels to be drunk, you think the whole world is yours and you don't care about anything. My father was mad at me when he first let me drive his car because I would not pay attention to him. My mother is the best mother all over the world; she wouldn't let me go out without eating anything. My job is more like a distraction;p most of the workers are my close friends. I wish I could travel all over the world someday. I plan to be successful at VC by getting my AA degree and then transfer to Northridge. Everyday I try to be a better person by correcting my errors.
