Immigration arguments 9/23/2008
In the article “Migrant studies counter negative images” there is plenty of evidence to discard the popular beliefs that immigrants hurt the economy. In fact according to the article immigrants actual help the economy. A study done by the Public Policy Institute of California found that immigrants who came here between the years of 1990 and 2004 helped boost the wages of native workers by 4 percent. The UC economist Giovanni Peri says this is so because when immigrants take the lower end jobs that pushes native workers up the economic ladder into employment that requires more English or more knowhow of the U.S system.
