Lolita

Today we used the library database and used CQ research or ProQuest.
I did not like ProQuest because it didn't provide me with any info on my topic.
I had a better experience with CQ, I manage to get some articles on Gothic Lolita. But I was disappointed in how they didn't give enough info on the history of Lolita itself. I would rather used Google or Ask.com for finding my information.

Essay Topics

The first Topic I would like to know about is “How lolli pops are made.” I want to know who invented them and how do they put gum in the middle of them. Where did they come from? I really do not know much about this topic but I am very interested to find out the history on one of my favorite candies.
The second topic I would like to know more about is “where softball got its name from?” This topic interests me because I played this sport all my life and I really enjoy it. The facts I know is that it is compared to baseball only girls play this sport. It can also be fast or slow and the ball that is used is twice as big as a baseball. This is a competitive sport and two teams play against each other. The team with the most runs wins.
The third topic I would like to learn about is “Why is cheerleading not considered to be a sport?” I know a little about this topic because I love this activity. My opinion is that it should be considered a sport. This takes much talent and strength to be able to lift people into the air and catch them takes a lot of strength. This is also a competitive sport. Competitions are held to see what team performs beter and has more strength and talent.

database

I found a few articles on the the database about the history of the guitar what where the big high points in the world of guitar. but i couldnt find anything else on the topic. I would rather use google.

border fence

For todays assignment i couldnt get in and went in to goggle and researched border fences. It specified that they are going to make a 675 mile fence to keep immigrants from coming to the U.S., i believe they are doing to much to keep them from coming from to the U.S.. Immigrants have continuosly kept the economy running very well in the U.S. and shouldnt keep them from coming. Realisticly california wouldnt function without immigrants.

Photography

I came across one of the first snap shots. It was made in 1888-1978: from the collection of Robert E. Jackson. He took a picture of this child sleeping on the ground. People thought the child was poor stirring up mystery. The greatest features are mystery, ambiguity, and contrast is the secret to make a great photo.
I found alot of articles about multitasking in everyday life for people. Most of the articles I found said that multitasking could be an efficient thing for some people but for others useless skill. The articles also spoke how the quality of the tasks be done while doing others at the same time greately diminishes. The more tasks at hand, the poorer the quality of the tasks will be when completed. According to the articles I read over, its better to limit your multitasking to a few and to do the most important tasks first.

History of Halloween

The History of Halloween, like any other festival was inspired through traditions that have gone through generations. Through past generations, much of their originality get transformed with newer alterations. The name... Halloween, or the Hallow E'en as they call it in Ireland , it means All Hallows Eve, or the night before the 'All Hallows', also called 'All Hallowmas', or 'All Saints', or 'All Souls' Day, observed on November 1.

Some people are just using the excuse that they are having anxiety and need the marijuana to help the pain. How can we really find out who actually need it and who is just using it to get a high.

The article that I read was about enery drinks in school. What i learned

The articles that i read were somewhat helpful. They didnt really tell me what the long term effects were from being abused when you were younger. It did tell me how and when they can be abused. It showed me alot of cases where it was someone famouse who was abused when they were a child, and yet they still managed to make something of themselves. It made me understand that only because you are abused it doesnt mean that you have to exclude yourself from others and that you will never accomplish anything in life.

I read articles about abortion. In the articles that i read i found that people are trying to make arguments on wether or not abortions cause long term psychological problems. The database is very easy to use and helps out a lot because anything you want to know about pops up. It is much easier to use the database than to try to find information about a certain topic by yourself.

Teen Drug Abuse

Preventing Teen Drug Use is becoming a problem in Today's generation. More and more young teens are experimenting on trying new things and peer pressure is such a huge impact on teenagers. Teens who watch television and read magazines are greatly influence by the fact that drugs are exposed to them through the lyrics of songs and picture from magazines of celebrities advertising drug use.
Underage drinking is a big issue in colleges in high schools. Spring break is were most of under aged drinking happens and is very hard to prevent when students are away there are no parents to watch and guide these young minds. Teens get so drunk when spring break comes along and police say that deaths occur becuase teens fall over hotel belconies.

One topic I would like to learn more about is, how the brain
handles multitasking when its limits are tested. I know humans have to multitask every day. I
want to know whether it causes past memory to be forgotten? I want to know if too much
multitasking causes future plans to be forgotten? About how much could the average 18 year
old aged brain handle multitasking?

A second topic I would like to learn more about is, who invented
licorice? I know licorice is red, gummy and very sweet overall. How was licorice made when
first invented? How is licorice made now compared to when it first originated? When was
licorice first invented?

The third topic I would like to learn more about is, who
Created General Motors company? When was GM first invented? How did the idea come up to

One of the topics a would choose to write about would be about stress. The reason why would have to be is everyone in the world stresses out about something. I know that it can affect you health if you dont handle you problems that make you fustrated. Stress is one of the things that is a part of life and that is why i would choose to write about stress is can affect you socially as well. Stress can endanger someones life that is why its something i would like to write about.
The second topic a would like to write about would have to be how someone would become an alcoholic. I would want to know how they become invovlved is it the way of life. What happened or what caused them to become that way. This interests me because i would like to know why and what was the cause of someone who decides to change their life.
The last one i would like to do would be aboaut cross country why did people start running. How is it that this became ot become a sport. The sport many people do not really like and just interesting. To find out how everything or at least how this sport started. Theses are some of the topics i would considered writing about.

Homework 10/13

One of the topics that I think would be interesting to do a research paper on would be the history of the game of basketball. I have played this sport since I was in the second grade and I would like to know, Where was the first game ever played. Also I wonder why the game was only meant for men at first then for both men and women? another thing I want to know is did the referee always were the black and white shirt? I personally what to know more about the history of basketball because I love the game so much and I want to know more about the game that I wouldn’t be able to live without.
Another topic that I want to know more about is ghost. Do they really exists or are they just pretend. How do people really know if they saw a ghost or not. Is there any technology that is used to figure out if there is a ghost or not? Also if ghost are real where is the place that they are most often seen. I personally would want to write about ghost because I always here about people who claim that they saw a ghost. Plus people are always debating on the subject and I just want to find out the answer for my self.
My last choice to do a research paper on would be about how music has changed over the last 20 years. Why have they let music go from on the radio to where you can get it at any place any time. Another question is how do the different types of music compete against each other. Why has the technology world let it go from just plain and simple to and CD player and now to an Ipod. How do all of the non ipod companies stay in business or do they go out of business? I want to write about the history of the music player because I find it so amazing how we have so many ways that we can play music and not just by the radio anymore.

Homework 10/13/08

One of my topics is to write about abortion. I know that this is a procedure that can be done when a pregnant woman does not want to have a baby. Many teenagers go through this process because they think that they are not ready to care for and nurture and bring a human being into this world. I know that you can get this procedure done for free at a family clinic and it is also confidential. What I would want to know is why do people choose to do this when they have other options, I also want to know if this is considered murder because its like if they are killing something that was suppose to turn into a human being. I would also like to know how they do it, because I heard that there is several ways to do this process and it has to be done by a professional. I am interested in this topic because it makes me wonder why people do this procedure because it is not the child’s fault it is the parents fault because they knew what they were doing.
Another topic that I want to write my research paper is on rape. I know that rape is not right and it is the unlawful compelling of a man or a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual desire. I know that there are different types of rape and that many people do this especially men but this is something very serious that is against the law. I would like to know why people do this, doesn’t there conscience bother them. Is something wrong with their mentality? Do they not realize how much they ruin their life after rape. There are so many questions about rape that I would like to be answered. I am interested in this topic because I know a couple of people who have been through this situation and it bothers me how their rapist ruined their lives, they wont be the same anymore.
The last topic that I might do my research on would be about sexually transmitted diseases. I know that there is so many STDs out there that not many of us know about but I think we should know about them and how we can tell who has an STD. I know that many STDs don’t have any symptoms but is there any way for us to know like by other ways like by their behavior or the way they think. I would want to know why many people don’t get tested to see if they have STDs. Many people know that they already have it and they still won’t go and get checked and that is how it gets spread around. Many people have died because of STDs because they leave it untreated and it causes them to have many problems later on in the future. I am interested in this topic because I think that this is something that we need to learn before it actually to some of us that we know.

Homework 10-13-08

Topic Proposal

I’m very interested in why people have abortions. I want to know what types of effects it makes on a person after they have an abortion. It’s sad to know how many people have abortions. People don’t think it’s bad but really it is because they are taking the life of an unborn child. In many cases people that have abortions are more likely to have mental and psychological problems.
Drugs are another interesting topic because so many people do them. It’s so hard to believe people damage their own brains just to get a high. It is very stupid that people eat, smoke, inject, and sniff all these types of drugs without realizing how drastically they are changing their lives. I want to learn what types of effects different drugs cause and how they are affecting families. Also I want to find out what how addicted people can be cured.
Child abuse is a big issue here in the United States and all over the world. I want to find out what people can do to help, what are the percentages of kids being abused daily, and I also want to find out how it affects these children in there daily lives. I think that people should be more educated about this topic and that’s why I think it’s a good idea researching about it. It happens to a lot of children and we can help we just need to find the way how to help.

Homework 10/13 Topics for research paper

1.I want to know about Obama and his views on how to make the United Stare better. I know he has a very big ideas for health care. He want all teenagers to have a chance to go to college. He wants all teenagers to have a chance to go to what ever college they want. I also know that he wants to help the US financially.
2. I want to research the history of football and how far the sport has came. I know that football started with the Indians. They made it from a pigs skin. That's why people say throw the pig skin. It was first played with no pads and there were allot of injury's. There were no such things as cleats. Now days the sport is one of the most popular sports in the world.
3.I want to research on why certain ethnic groups don't vote. Is it because they don't care. I believe they don't believe that their vote counts. Why don't African Americans vote. I know that the news every election points out that certain ethnic groups don't vote. People always say if they were to vote the the election would be way different. CNN news just showed yesterday that 45% of ethnic vote are not voting in this election.

Topics For Research Paper

I want to research

  1. Abortions
  2. Different types of drugs
  3. Child Abuse
  4. How the brain works
  5. Alcohol

Of the 5 I'm more interested in finding out about abortions. It makes me so mad that girls have sex and if they get pregnant they have an abortion. I think that if someone doesn't want to end up pregnant they should use protection. Or maybe they just shouldn't open there legs if they don't want to have a kid. How can anybody take the life of their unborn child? It's pathetic.

Lolita is a type of clothing style in Japan. Lolita came from England and if I remember correctly Japan adopted this type of style. What Lolita symbolizes “innocence” and “cute” rather than “sexy”. Lolita is more of a Victorian doll look, most of the body is covered with the dresses knee high or longer and long sleeves and high shoes with delicate looking accessories you’ll feel as if you’re ready for a tea party. Lolita is popular in the Japanese culture that they even have conventions for this type of style. No one really knows how this style became so well known, but the one person who brought Lolita to what it is now is Mana. Mana is one of the vital ingredients to what made Lolita so well liked, but don’t be fooled by the name; Mana is a guy who dress like a women, and believe me he looks the part, he’s also in a band and that’s probably another reason why Lolita became popular. I may have a basic understanding of the style Lolita and its history but I want the details from who the creator was, how it evolved in England and then Japan. How the dresses were made, how it is still widely liked today if it’s as old as dirt and just have a deeper understanding of this wonderful clothing style called Lolita. I’m personally interesting in this clothing style Lolita because of its Victorian look, I’ve always loved the dressed in old movies and thought I wish I could have one of those. I am not sure how or when I became interesting in Lolita, but from what I can remember I think the first time I was introduced to Lolita was probably a year or two years ago through an Anime (for those of you who do not know what “Anime” is, it’s a type of animation which comes from the popular art style in Japan known as “Manga”) called Paradise Kiss and Rosen Maiden. When I saw the style of their clothes it was love at fist sight! I knew I had to find out more about this style of clothing. I believe I found out from a friend or a friend told me about the style and from then on I’ve been searching the net for these elegant dresses, I even plan to hand make my own Lolita dresses with the help and inspiration of Japan and of course patters to get me going. Well what can I say, Lolita is my obsession at the moment.

Three topics that I would be interested in writing about are how airplanes have affected the country, how is the present day economy effecting everyday people, and how much technology has changed our lives. I know there are many more topics that I could have chosen, but these are the topics that sparked my attention the most.
When it comes to airplanes I know quite a bit about how they fly and I even know how to fly them. I can also identify quite a few of the World War II fighters just by looking at them. But I never thought about how they affect our country, because when you think about it airplanes do more than just carry people to vacation spots. They transport goods all over the United States and the world, which has a big impact on our economy. I would also like to learn how they helped defend this country in World War II against the Germans and the Japanese, and how they still do defend this country today. I would like to write my essay on airplanes because ever since I can remember I have always had an interest in them and wanted to be a pilot.
Another topic I would like to write about is how the present economy is affecting everyday people. I know that the economy keeps going down, and from what I have seen it is showing no signs of coming back up soon. What I would like to know is, how many people have lost their jobs, because lately I have been hearing a lot of companies laying off employs and not even having enough money to give them there last checks. A few more questions that I would like to find out the answer to by righting this paper are how the current economy is affecting the housing market and the war. I would like to write my paper on this particular subject because I would like to figure out how the current economy might affect me in the near future.
The last subject that I would like to write about for this paper is how technology has changed our lives. I know about the obvious ways it has changed our lives like how I am typing this paper instead of hand writing it. But what other ways besides the obvious has technology changed us? That is what I want to find out from this paper, because when you stop and think about it technology has to do with much more than computers. For example the new materials and ways they use to make cars safer is technically new technology. I would like to write my paper on this subject because I would like to point out the less noticeable technologies that we all take for granted.

3 interesting topics in which interest me are Under age drinking, College binge drinking, and medical marijuana. I would like to be inform on the statistics on how many people under the age of 21 have consumed an alcoholic beverage. Also I would like to be inform in which why do College students do binge? If allowed to have a medical card for marijuana, why is it so?
Underage drinking I believe would be an interesting topic to research due to the interesting statistics on reality. How many deaths are in regards to Drunk driving accidents. Is the mass population on the chunk of under age people related to DUI?
What are some of the health and physiological effects of drinking at a young age.
Of what I have been informed about underage drinking, is most mass majority of high school students have already consumed an alcoholic drink
College binge drinking, almost every college student method of drinking. In which ways is a preferred method? Is binge drinking a healthy way of drinking, or does it actually effect the body more. How many students die each year due to binge drinking. Of what I have been informed binge drinking, is a method in which a consumer consumes more than 5 drinks.
If allowed an a medical marijuana card what are some of the reasons for it to be prescribed. Of my knowledge I know in which you must seek a doctor and a doctor only a doctor can issue the card out. How much are the fees for this card. If caught by the federal agents does the card permit a pass or would you be treated as a normal person. When issued a card how much marijuana are you allowed to conceal. How many clubs are in the U.S.

The three topics that I have chosen to resaerch about are the history of halloween, what is the reason we have this holiday?, where did it originate from? and where is it celebrated?. The history of fashion, when was the first trend?, who designed the first pair of jeans? and what trend was the most popular. The history of drugs, how many types of drugs are there?, which drug has the worst effects? and where did most of the drugs originate?.

The history of halloween seem to be intresting to me because this is a holiday that I really dont know the meaning of. The only thing i know about halloween is that we dress up as some sort of monster and go to peoples homes to ask for candy. I would like to know why we celebrate it, where it came from, and where else is it celebrated. This topic is an intrest of mine because I know we celebrate it but i dont know why.

The history of fashion is intresting to me because it seems to me that not many people know where these ideas of our cloths come from. The only knowledge i know about fashion is that it has a huge role in our society and there has been crazy trends back in the old days. I would like to know where most of our cloths originated from, what were the first trends and where was the first runway show held at.

The history of drugs is also a intrest of mine because I really dont know anything about these drugs. All I know about drugs is that they are bad for you and they are illegal. I would like to find out more about where they came from, how many types of drugs are there and which drug has the worst effect.

One of the three topics I came up with for a research report was the history of the Los Angeles Angels, there would be lots of information I would be able to find about them. The history of boating such as, who made the first boat would be another idea. Schooling is a very important asset in to day’s world with out it many children would be lost and that’s why I think this would also be a very interesting topic to write about.
The Los Angeles Angels are my favorite baseball team and I would like to write a research report on there history. In my report I would be able to ask questions such as: What year did they start playing, Where was there first stadium located, How many different owners have they had. This would be a very good report.
I work at a boating store so I think it would be cool to learn about the history of boating and where they were first built, who built the first boat, and what did they use the first boats for? It might be useful to myself at work if I knew the history of boating.
Many children and young adults wake up every weekday and go to school. Schooling is a very important asset in the lives of many children across America and in other countries also, but there are so many questions to be asked about how it started, who was the first teacher, where was the first school located.
These are the three research report ideas I came up with, they are all very interesting but I think I am going to be writing on the history of the Los Angeles Angels. That sounds like it would be the best topic for me to write about.

October 14, 2008 3 Research Ideas

The first topic I would like to research is restorative justice. I didn’t think I knew very much about this subject but as it turns out I already do. Restorative justice is a term and social movement. Restorative justice is a broad term and is incorporated in a lot of different areas such as the criminal justice system, courts and by other institutions. Restorative justice is the social movement to make things right between an offender and their victim. It is an approach to get to the root of the problem in society. It is studied as a major in colleges and is sought after as a profession. The reason I would like to research this is because I myself have been through California’s State Prison System as an offender. I gave the system 20+ years of my life and destroyed a lot of relationships, hopes, and dreams along the way. Today my life is a different life and I just want to learn more about how I can help our community instead of destroying it. That’s why I want to research restorative justice.
The next thing I am interested in researching is self concept and its role in people’s actions. Self concept is the way we view ourselves and what we find to be truth about our identity. I am interested in this because this has played a big role in the way I acted out my life prior to this day. It also plays a role on the way I’ll act out tomorrow. This concept has helped change my life to what it is today. I want to know more about it so I can know exactly what to tell people when they ask me; what changes had to occur to make your life better? This information will help me to help others.
The last thing I would like to research is Alcohol and Drug abuse and how it affects our community. The biggest reason I would like to research this is because this played a major role in a lot of poor decisions I have made in my life. I would like to study how this affects everyone not only the person using the drugs or alcohol. I would like to learn some statistics and maybe do an actual interview with an offender and a victim and share this with the world. Information and knowledge about any particular subject is always beneficial to everyone even if they just file it away for future reference.

In Class 9/23 Assignment

I want to show that Immigrants are essential in more ways than people give them credit for, and to show that Immigrants are people just like us with problems trying to make their lives better.

homework 9/23

The evidence that can be used in the article I have read is the fact that immigrants are not the criminals who arrive in any country they decide to arrive in. Having known that their are crimainals that are born and raised all the time and having immigrants be blamed for being the criminals. The immigrants I believe that are not the ones here to be blamed for the hard work and effort that they give when they arrive in any country. The clain is that criminals are not foriengers they are most likely the ones that are born in whatever country.

Immigration arguments 9/23/2008

In the article “Migrant studies counter negative images” there is plenty of evidence to discard the popular beliefs that immigrants hurt the economy. In fact according to the article immigrants actual help the economy. A study done by the Public Policy Institute of California found that immigrants who came here between the years of 1990 and 2004 helped boost the wages of native workers by 4 percent. The UC economist Giovanni Peri says this is so because when immigrants take the lower end jobs that pushes native workers up the economic ladder into employment that requires more English or more knowhow of the U.S system.
The claim or argument that I want to write in my essay is that the only immigrants that come to the US should be legal immigrants. The argument that I have evidence of the fact that other immigrant s only compete with other immigrants and if they choose to do so then they should go back to where they are originally from and let the ones that live here have the jobs and the housing. The share of the work force dropped from 65% in 2000 and to 62% in 2005. the study also states that it is discurging natives from moving to the state and taking advantage of higher paying jobs opprtunites. my argument would go toward that the immigrants shouldnt be allowed to do those type of things unless they were legal.

Migrant studies counter negative images

My opinion for this article is that the United States, without immigrants, wouldn't be as efficient as it is right now. I dont think Americans would take a minimum payed job, but on the other hand an immigrant would take any kind of job as long as they are working and support their family. This is why there is no job competition. i dont think that immigrants are the ones causing more crimes and braking the laws, i say more americans are comitting more crimes.

In class Assighnment

I believe that immigrants are beneficial to our economy. Due to studies that have been done, they have provided evidence that they boost our wages by 4%. They also take the jobs that no other native-born would want to do, for example picking fruit. I think they have also pushed native-born citizens to perform better in competitive work. So far that i could see, I dont feel that they are damaging our economy.

In class Assigment

I think all the things that it say in the document are true because without the immigrant the U.S. wouldn't increase the wages for the native workers by an average 4%, some benefits were shared by all native-born workers, from High School dropouts to college graduates. ALL their work shows that immigrants clearly benefit U.S. resisdents and are being unfair scapegoated for problems they do not cause.

Migrant studies counter negative images

Today in our society no American "white boy" would be willing to do the hard labor that immigrants are doing. Immigrants are filling lower skilled jobs, they are raising the natives up the economic ladder into employment. Immigrants who arrived in the state between 1990 and 2004 increased wages by an average 4%. It seems to me that we need immigrants because if we didn't have them who would do those hard labor jobs, i know i wouldn't want to. They work hard long hours with the sun beating down on them all hours of the day with there backs hunched over. In the article the author states "immigrants clearly benefit U.S. residents and are being unfairly scapegoated for problems they do not cause.

ARTICLE

I agree with UC Davis economist Giovanni Peri in the article "Migrant Stidies Counter Negative Images". I agree with him because he states that there is no big loss from immigration. There is no loss in the U.S. instead we have gains from it. One of the gains is that the immigrants work in places were U.S citizens would not like to work at.Someone has to do the job. Immigrants benifit the U.S in the economy and in the population growth.

In Class Assignment Tuesday 9/23

In the article "Migrant Studies Counter Negative Images" has proven to me that immigrants do not increase crime rate here in California. Native born citizens have a higher incarceration rate than immigrants and there is studies to prove this. In fact Immigrants help the native born citizens because they help boost their wages. Immigrants instead fill the lower skilled jobs and the native born take the better jobs because they know more English than immigrants do, so the immigrants are helping the native born and instead people are writing negative things about immigrants and making them look bad and immigrants do not feel welcome when they are helping us a lot in economy by doing the jobs that native born's do not want to do.

In Class Ass. Tuesday Sept 23.08

In "Migrant Studies Counter Negative Images" My argument is I agree with Teresa Wantab. I have evidence stating that immigrants do not cause problems in the Country they actually help out natives.Immigrants do help help native-born citizens in a positive way. Immigrants help boost wages in the economy for native-citizens. Studies prove that native citizens are now making more money then they did before immigrants came into the country, all because immigrants are taking over all they low skilled jobs that do not pay much for the intense labor they do. Forcing native-born citizens to challenge themselves into getting a higher paid job that requires more English spoken throughout the job.

Immigrants

My argument is that a lot of immigrants are blamed for bad things they don't do. And there is proof in some studies made recently in U.S.A.

In class 9/23 Arguments

One argument I can definitely make using the article is that immigrants helped native Americans economically. The evidence is that Teresa Watanabe presents two studies. One study is from the Public Policy of California. The other is by the Immigration Policy Center based in Washington. The studies are based U.S. census data. The information I got from reading this article was enlightening to me. I personally have been helped up the economic ladder and didn't even realize it. Although I have benefited from immigrants I know that this view is only one side of the coin.

Migrant studies counter negative images

From what i have read my argument towards immigrants is basically stated in the article "Migrant studies counter negative images" Teresa Watanabe defends immigrants in way they actually do have a positive impact in todays society. She gives us facts in which mainly all of immigrants work and perform complementary jobs rather then the skilled jobs. They actually have help our society in ways many Americans would not take the complementary jobs. I believe without immigrants in todays world our society would not be as efficient as it is. With that stated "A day without an immigrant" would take a major toll in todays society. Due to the fact Immigrants offer things that are positive in which we barely even notice. However in many Americans eyes It seems that our economy is overpopulated with immigrants. In which i believe due to they do make up a mass majority in todays world. To the extent i do believe our immigration laws should be enforced.

immigration article argument

I think that immigrants help the united states out by doing the jobs that normal american citizens do not want to do. I do not think immigrants would want to come to the united states to commit crimes. They would want to come here and work. when I go out looking for a job a go to department stores and retail stores. I dont go to the fields to find a job or go to a back braking job where I have to wake up early

Migrant Studies Argument

I believe that without immigrants the U.S would not be able to function.People say that the immigrants are the ones who are comming to this country and geting in trouble with the law, but it is proven that immigrant men ages 18 to 39 had an incarceration rate of five times lower than native-born citizens in every ethinic group.

Class asigment

My type of argument i will make is according what i read so far. I am agree with some point. my argumentation will be as positively reflexion of immigrant problems and qualities. I will like to claim humans rights and responsibilities as foreign born. i will claim human natural rights. These laws cannot be corrupted no exceptions.

Lookout for the Raids

Work-site raids are jailing thousands of illegal workers, immigration organizations are geting information to help out the laborers. Citizens of every type are helping give organizations tips on where the customs enforcements agents will be. Socorro Leos, a community organizer for Mississippi Immigrants' Rights Alliance is training people to be alert for the ICE. Although the immigrants are getting help it is making ICE's job very difficult to accomplish.
I dont agree that we should have raids to gather all the illegal immigrants. They are having people in fear that if they go work to feed there family, they mite not be able to see their family again. Immigrants leave their difficulties of their homeland to come to the U.S to be free, but instead they live in fear. I think they should incourage illegal immigrants to get proper documents, instead of scaring them.

U.S. Immigration history and the future

My article talks about how people in the government are making bills to stop illegal immigration into to the US. They are also trying to find all immigrants and send them back to their country. They believe that by having the immigrants here it is disturbing the economy, because they are not paying taxes and medical expenses. I believe that all immagrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S because obviously they came to work hard and provide for their families. Which is not something that most Americans are doing.

Immigrants' arrest

1.) My article took place in San Francisco. It was about four women and two men were booked into custody and a 15 year old girl was questioned at the residence. Virginia Kice, a spokesman for immigration and customs enforcement, went to the home seeking three adults who were being oredered to be deported by a federal judge and when the officers arrived, they found three other adults. They were undocumnted and living in the country illigally and arrested them all. But the girl had an application to stay in the country legally so she was not taken away.
2.) The article did not show enough evidence because they are still investigating. They entered the residence without a warrant so that is why they are still deciding on what to do because they did not expected to find more people in that home.
3.) I did not like the fact that they took the other people away because the whole purpose was to get the ones they were suppose to get. By taking them all away, they left the girl on her own. It was cruel to do that.

Imigration

In my article they talked about a raid in Palm Springs. There was a bakery there that had people working there that had no or fake social security numbers. In the raid they found 51 illegal immigrants and the supervisor and manager will both face criminal charges.Authorities said that the immigrants each paid $3000 to get a job by the bakery, many of the people said the were here illegally.I think that in staed of senbding these people back to where they were or puting them in jail, we should give them jobs because atleast they want to work hard; and that is something that not alot of people do!

Baby Bust

The argument in this article is that they are saying that the only thing keeping americas populution from shrinking is Hispanic fertility. which helps with the nations economic growth. progressives can rejoice in finding an argument for liberal immigration policy that will appeal to the conservatives. If the population declines presents the end of no dillemas, from a shrinking tax base to a shallower labor pool. The conservatives are pleased because the growth sector of America's populace holds socially conservative positions on moral and and cultral issues like abortion. the evidence is that this came from the data of the Census Bureau. I agree with this writer because the hispanics do help a lot in america and they are helping the economy with population growth because hispanic women have more children than a white woman would, but some people think that the more population that it leads to more environmental devastation but i dont agree to this at all because there is no facts to prove that the more population there is the worst the environment becomes.

immigration

The article I read was about how immigration was trying to be controlled. Seeing how we can maintian the immigration is it possible to tell them what they can do and where they can live. They have also have statistcs that show how they have increased amount of immigrants that have entered other countries that are highly skilled workers. These results show us that its not so bad to have immigrants they actually help the economy. In some cases the economy is being helped and havin these countries do fine.

who are the criminals?

My article was about how an immagrate family was sleeping when the police came in the night and broke down there door. They told everyone to get down and put your hand behind your back. Kepping in mind that noone in the house had a criminal record. The agents rummaged through all the dresser drawers, disconnected the computer, ransacked the closets, ripped the clothes off the racks in the closets. The police told the neighbors not to come out of their houses. One woman was holding a four month-old baby and the other woman told the agents she was pregnant. The ICE ordered the two women out of the way.One woman was holding a four month-old baby and the other woman told the agents she was pregnant. The ICE ordered the two women out of the way. Jose's mother told ICE agents that her son, who was on the floor face down, had a heart condition. They ignored her. They took the two men away, and when they were outside, one of the agents said they were going to take the car. The woman said that the car was not in her husband's name and told them that she had doctors appointments for the babies and needed the car. They left the car. The eight year-old boy, a U.S. citizen, told us that the agents threatened to shoot his pregnant dog.
I dont understand why they were attacking this one family and not going after the illegal immagrants that actaully had criminal records. I can understand when the government takes away the immagrants that are illegal and are doing illegal activity, but i dont understand when they attack and harrass immagrants that have no criminal record. If immagrants that are good people want to come to america or california i have no problem with that. But if immagrants are going to make it worse and start doing illegal things then they should go back to there country. I think everyone should get a green card though, wouldnt it just be easier on everyone?

immigration!

My article is about a congress enacted law ment to protect illegal imagrants who were victims of a crime. claiming to be a crime victim, however its not enough to get a U visa.Applicants have to prove they suffered for eaxample, rape, sexual assult, torture ect.no application for a U visa is completewith out a certificate from federal, state or local law enforcement.

immigration!

My article is about immigrants being smuggled into the country illegally. In my article the border patrol caught a semi smuggling in immigrants in the trailer. these immigrants were in there for days; no fresh air, hardly any food, and no place to go to the bathroom. i feel like immigrants will do pretty much anything to be part of this country and i think that it should be ok for some immigrants to come to the U.S.

Immigration

1. My Article was about immigrants working at this company called Howard Industries. The government had a suspicion of illegal immigrants working there and raided the company. The people said no charges have been made on that Monday. Other companies that are similar just as Howard Industries are being raided as well another industries in Iowa denied 400 other workers.
2. The writers evidence actually showed plenty of evidence by getting pictures and news reporters detailing every detail of what went on that day. The Bush administrative was even involved with the story and they did not deport the immigrants from the Iowa Incident.
3. I have a strong opinon of both because I think they should be able to work for us. Then again there are too many of them and when they get injured who pays for it? we do.

immigration

the article is about immigrants leaving or are they going to different places. It was affecting this man named Gil who own a restraunt. Oklahoma had just passed a house bill 1804. The number of illegal immigrants drooped by 12.5 million in may 2007 to 11.2 million august of this year. A spokesman from the National Immigration Forum, Doug Rivilin believs they are not going back they are just moving to different states where they are not the focus on and can work like Texas. I think they should let them work. they didn't come to America to do nothing they came to work and make a better life for them and most likely their family too. they should give them slack give them a chance to become legal. If it wasn't for my grandpa coming to America in the bracero program i would have not been here. America is a melting pot of immigrants we all are immigrants. What happen to land of the free.

Immigrant youths explore identity school

My article was research on how immigrant teens refer to call themselves such as Mexican American or Asian American rather than Mexican or Asian. Research also shows if their parents were foreign-born and the child was born in America that they usually refer to themselves as Chinese or Mexican or Asian.

The War on Immigrants: Stories from the Front Lines

The article i read was about war on immigrants. This article basically states in which what the ICE does to capture immigrants. They have code names in which are Operation Endgame and Return to Sender in which the ICE target immigrants are treat them as if they are hardened criminals. In 2007 the ICE arrested 30,000 immigrants, without the right to appoint a lawyer. Also in some states, laws are passed in which if sheltered an immigrant there shall be punishment. For example in the state of MISS if immigrants have jobs and caught they can face a year in prison or severer fines. This article also states in which raids often occur and when occurred all of them are reported to border patrol. When raided many face evictions from the U.S.A and with very little notice causing baby's to be parent less. The writer states in which the key to fix immigrant and protect our national security at the same time is to enforce laws reasonably. In which i totally agree to. Due to the fact if immigrants were such a big deal these days they wouldn't be here. At the same time look around at all the jobs are done by Immigrants. The writer states our focus shouldn't be on immigrants right now, it should be focused on something else that is a threat. This topic is a controversial topic. Because there pros and cons. A day with out immigrants would take a major poll on our economy. In which we need immigrants to keep our economy running efficient.

Campaign'08

1) Mc Cain is a Republican candidate for president. McCain have already solutions to control immigration. Arizona 10% of its population represents people who live illegaly in the country of U.S. McCain probably have the solution to control it. The disvantage is that in Arizona factories are nonresidents. it probably affect economy of Arizona. Immigration problems are in all U.S.A.
2)
a) 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S i s going to have their citizenship
b)Maricopa county sheriff enforce the laws and they arrest 10,000 people [illegally immigrants] in ten cities.
c) In a factory there are 100 illegally employes average.
3) My point of view of immigrants is i am agree to enforce law to those illegally people. I understand many of those peolple are helping in someway, but the problem is for trouble people. I suggest to enforce some kind of law where could be more strictlly for heavy drinkers most of them are illegally persons and in some way they will make a problem that could be a problem without solution because of its status. car owners without licesense and Insurance probably are illegally persons we must to enforce a law to proctect drivers for those persons.

Homework 9/16

1)My Article is from a British newspaper. The writer states that the reason why the U.S. is pushing Stricter Immigration laws are due to Anti-immigration groups. He states that these immigration groups are white supremacists and that their statistics are wrong. He goes on to say that He has found that scientific studies show that Illegal immigrants have no impact on our environment. He even says that immigrants help the slow the population because they are less likely to reproduce away from their home land.....

2) I didn't see any evidence to back up this writer's claim. He was making claims and didn't offer any hard facts like specific studies from respected organizations or scientific groups.

3)I don't agree at all with this article. The reason I don't agree is that there are no hard facts to back this up. I think the writer was mixing up Illegal immigrants with just immigrants and that's a big difference. Personally I feel that we do need a stronger border in California.

Immigration is good for U.S and native born workers

In Postville, Iowa, The Jewish community was showing compassion to the undocumented workers and they feel that if any body who needs help they are there to help them. They feel that we should welcome the “strangers” and just let them work her because we need more people to work for the economy. The article states that it Is in our countries best interest to work together toward constructive, compassionate and reasoned change in our nations immigration policy. I disagree with this article in so many ways. One reason is because I think that only the legal ones should be allowed to continue to work here, and the illegal ones should be sent back to where ever they are from, also the article states that 389 undocumented illegal immigrants are working in the meatpacking, and I feel that they are taking other peoples jobs that are her and were born her and they don’t have a job because those 389 people are taking the jobs that the illegal workers are working, that is my strong opinion.

Bush widens worker checks

The Bush administration is calling for aggressive action against illegal workers by forcing all companies doing business with the Federal Government to ensuring there employs are legal U.S citizens. They will do this by using a system called E-Verify to check workers Social Security numbers. The E-Verify system is already being use by 69,000 companies, and an estimated 1,000 firms are signing up weekly for a free internet based system. “E-Verify has already been a success in the past”, Chertoff said. But Timothy D. Sparapani of the American Civil Liberties Union argued that E-Verify is “not really immigration enforcement” because the system has failed to detect people who have used papers stolen from legal workers. From what I have read this system may not be fool proof, but at least it is a start to cracking down on illegal immigration.

Homework 9/16

I read an article about U-Visas which help immigrants stay in the United States legally. Immigrants can stay in the U.S for about four years. While there stay here they can try to fix there papers and become residents. In those four years if nothing happens they must go back to their country. If an immigrant came to the U.S illegally and were abused and have proof they may be allowed to stay a longer time. If an immigrant is being abused in any way and they report it to the police they won't be deported. No application for the U-visa is complete without a certificate from federal, state or local law enforcement, a prosecutor or a judge, attesting to the applicant's cooperation with a criminal investigation. There are a lot of cases in which immigrants don't get deported if they report a crime like Jose Suarez, a 38 year old illegal immigrant from El Salvador who was beaten in a robbery and who helped convict his attacker. I think the U visas are a good idea because immigrants can come to the United States to work and see how the life is here. I don't think immigrants are criminals because many come here to work. I agree with this article because many people come to the U.S to work and make a better living for there family like my parents. If they would have been deported I myself would have been an immigrant. Now my parents are legal residents because they have been living here for many years.
In the los Angeles County, about 75% of the immaigrants who reenter the United States engage in more criminal activites within a year. These immigrants are more likely to commit a crime than over an over then other immigrants, says the study by the nonprofit Rand orp.

A study limited its results to 517 male immigrants released from L.A. county jails between Aug 4th and Sept 2 2002 and last year in October U.S. attorney's office in L.A. prosecuted 500 illegal immigrants who had returned to the U.S. after being deported. Most of them recieved three to five year sentences, these cases make up about one third of all federal prosecutions in the L.A. and surrounding couties.

This report shows that immigrants get in commit crimes are deported then they make there way back an commit more crimes. We need to crack down on the border an any other places that these immigrants can be leaking in from, and if its called for give them more time for there crimes.

Study finds 11% drop in illegal immigrants

A report in Washington by the center for immigration studies says that the number of illegal immigrants fell about 11% between last August and May, from 12.5 million to 11.2 million.

The data of this drop suggested that the number of illegal immigrants that have left this contry in their own is laarger than those removed from the government.

I think that so many people left because they did not want to be removed from the government. Many people also probably left because of the economy of this country.

Born in the beautiful city of Goleta, California,
A baby child off to a long journey ahead of him,
Growing up adventuring the swampy creeks,
Discovering many spices of frogs and fish,
Riding my bike listening to the wind zoom by my ears,
Plucking long strains of grass to produce a nuce,
As the scaly lizards were then obtained,
Roaming my neighborhood on the hot sunny days,
Darting up and down the street as the neighborhood kids would take part in laser tag,
As the years gusted by here I arrive in Ventura,
Flying through middle school, Big bad high school had arrived ,
Participating in Athletics,
As the long sore practices stunned my body,
Hearing the Whistle blow sounded kick off,
Running up skyline to prepare for the glorious track meets,
Runners on your marks, Get set, Bang!!!!
Running as fast as possible I heard the chants from supporting friends and parents,
When the last 50 meters had arrived my legs felt like a 1000 pounds,
The day had come, Graduation!!!!
Never felt so accomplished, As the thrilled students marched the burning hot turf
Up north, seeing nothing but Cow girls and Cow boys,
As the Good Ol Toby Keith prepared to rock the stage,
Where as in the Mountains of Tahoe ,
I saw the beauty of pure white hills,
Where I then experienced, The fluffy white snow tap my face
Stuck in snow up to my waist, I faced a situation
Was it life or death?
Trying not to panic, I made my way up the beastly hill
I could not imagine if I had not been rescued,
My father, A strong and determined man, where as my mother a strict and loving parent,
George, my brother is one I look up to,
I have felt the emotional deep pain of losing a loved one,
Summer, one I will never forget as many move on into the future,
Everyday I look at the beauty of being here on earth
And live life to its fullest with no regrets!

I was born in a warm Wednesday in the month of June of 1990. I love Mago de Oz music.

My second boyfriend gave me my first love kiss. I have felt the pain of losing a grandparent. Once I fall at work, but nothing happened to me. My cousin Tito came back safe from Iraq. My Aunt just had a baby girl with beautiful green eyes. I have loved my first dog, a huge and playful French Puddle, her name was Coca. My best friend cried when I left Mexico three years ago. I have never taken drugs. I have experienced how it feels to be drunk, you think the whole world is yours and you don't care about anything. My father was mad at me when he first let me drive his car because I would not pay attention to him. My mother is the best mother all over the world; she wouldn't let me go out without eating anything. My job is more like a distraction;p most of the workers are my close friends. I wish I could travel all over the world someday. I plan to be successful at VC by getting my AA degree and then transfer to Northridge. Everyday I try to be a better person by correcting my errors.

Random Autobiography

I was born on the on the first month of the year, what a great way to start off the year right?
I have loved and felt loved. Many people have made an impression on my life and I will never forget those who have been there for me and the family members I lost I will always keep them in my heart.
My little sister, the highlight of my day, brings smiles to my face every single day. I just hope that when she grows up that I set the right example for her for I know she loves to copy everything that I do.
I believe everything is meant to happen for a reason, people change for the better and we all learn from our mistakes one way or another.
My best friend, such a patient young heart, means everything to me and I just cannot picture my life without him. We are two different people that handle life in totally different ways, but get along so well. Opposites attract right?
I plan to graduate, within the decade, from CSUCI with a master’s degree in accounting. I have always enjoyed dealing with math and money.
I have never dreamed of my life taking the turn that it has today, with all these surprises and the decisions I made, but I just wouldn’t have it any other way.
Every year I realize what life really means to me and look back on all the obstacles I had to get through to achieve my goals.
I wish I could go back in time to when I was younger and be that softball player that I was who had so much heart and love for the game.
If I could I would travel the world to see all the different types of foods that are available in different cities and countries, for I love food and love to try new things.
My siblings, younger and older, are simply amazing yet so full of energy I love being around them.
I have learned to forgive and forget, people do deserve a second chance because everybody makes mistakes.
I saw many things in my life, good and bad, that make me the strong person I am today.
I once wished to have a pet zebra because I love the print, but sadly that never came true I never got the zebra.
I yelled through the halls of UCLA over tons of cheerleaders chanting which High School they represented. Cheer camp was so amazing and had such a huge impact on my life.
I’ve been scared of horror movies and fortunately learned to overcome that fear I now know movies are just make believe.
My friends and I, such young souls, are so outrageous we constantly laugh over the silliest reasons. We always make the best of the situation no matter if it is good or bad.
Every day I thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful life. Life is such a precious gift that nobody can take away from you.

Random Auto- Biography

My first kiss was a new beginning to a tragic play with a true drama king that caused tears for half a year.

I love to swim freely in the deep depths of fantasy that engulfs my mind.

I want to make a difference in the world for the greater good, even if it sounds cheesy.
Everyday I daydream of beautiful far off places in the world I will go and all the great people I will meet.

My job will be like no other because it won’t be a job, it will be my dream I’ve built in my mind that was brought to life.

I have loved my dad’s inspirational stories of pain that failures had to endure to become great people.

I have never seen the shimmering lights of a meteor shower against the dark veil of the sky.

My best friend frees me from the curse of the stressful thoughts that eat at my mind.
One of the fears that pushes me to go on and not give up until I have nothing left to give is failure.

Everyday I wonder what will become of me, what’s funny is I am that life is just shaping me to be that person.

I’ve felt the deadly grip of death shock me as I witnessed my sister almost fall through the deep snow.

I’ve heard the crushing crash of a tree falling on my bedroom roof in the deep sleep of my dreams, that morning I went out to play. I saw that what I heard in my dream was nothing short of horrifying. Half of the tree was on the roof of my house.

I watched as my dad’s only father laid on a cold unforgiving bed surrounded by death, I told my grandpa “ I love you and I’m here” that’s when streams of glistening tears streamed down his withered face to let me know I was heard even if he would never get to say goodbye to us.

I’ve felt the true frustration of having to move because of lies that blinded everyone, forcing my family to be homeless to end up living in one room for a few years.

I still hold the heart breaking vision of my grandmother running to my grandfather’s grave, as her only love left her in this cruel world. I watched as she
fell apart refusing to eat, falling deep into melancholy and isolation of her memories of him and her.

A small letter with my name was sent to me today from my best friend Stephanie that I had not seen since my freshmen year, I felt the excitement a child feels in a candy store, I couldn’t help myself from jumping and dancing.

I’ve camped out under the naked sky with my family in our back yard listening to the soft music of crickets, roasting hotdogs on my dad’s small portable stove that gave out blue flowers of heat to keep us warm on the cold stone ground.

I remember when we fell into a deep sleep, I woke up in the early hours of the morning stars still dancing in the night sky. My mom was leaving for her endless hours of work when she screamed and then laughed “Stupid dog! You scared me!” my black lab Rascal was right there happily wagging his tail to see her.

Today I was caught between my friend’s words of love that she had for David but never knowing he was going through the same spinning ideas she thought.

That dark hour I had a choice to make, to take the slow death of a habit no one should ever start or stand strong with what I think is good for me.

I have never felt more scared when reality slapped me in gear when a 4 foot brown bear was approaching 20 feet away from my family with my 2 small cousins by my side at the table where we were playing cards. I grabbed my 2 cousins desperately, hoping that I could get them to safety in time as the rest of my family ran to their cabins.

I’ve struggled with tortures of school all my life with late night study for that one exam that would make or break you, long hours of summer school work racing to meet ends meet with the class, all the countless mistakes I would never make again. My friends assume I’m smart but never thought what I had to go through to get where I am now.

I know the stressful fears of a teenage senior the first of your family a to find out that graduation seems impossible to reach because of 2 classes, I struggled to balance both my Math and English to take that great walk of accomplishment. Don’t ask me how I manage to make it to graduation; the only thing I knew was that failure was not an option.

I’ve traveled to a castle deep in the mountains as marble statues greeted me to enter the clear pool of pure drinking water, underneath the tennis courts a swimming pool covered in gold floors awaited my arrive.

10 things that happen to me.

1.when i fell off a mountain on my quad.

3.first time driving in the freeway.
4.when i got caught tagging the school.

The first time I drove on the freeway wasn't a good first time experience. I didn't really know how to drive.I was really scared and nervous, because it was at night time and i wasn't prepared to drive at that time, but I had to in order to learn. The mistake I made was that when I was going to change lanes,I did not check my mirrors or turn my head over my shoulder. As soon as I made that mistake my dad told me,"Every time your going to change lanes you have to look over your shoulder."As I kept driving I then was looking at my mirrors all the time checking if any cars would come behind me.When I got home,I sat in my room and promised my self not to ever make that dangerous mistake ever again.

Random Autobiography

I dropped into this world on the sixth of October in 1990. Loneliness and confusion fills my mind everyday all day. I believed lies so I eventually learned to trut nobody but myself. My father supprts my family by working as much as he can to provide my family's needs. My mother cares for my family by feeding us and taking good care of us so that we dont get into any trouble. My best friend in the whole wide world is my cousin because she is the only one that knows the real me. I can be mean when those i love most have been put down or hurt. All throughout my middle and high school years i have had a girl named Bianca hate me and things havent changed because she still feels the same about me. My first kiss was by someone that didnt even love me. I fell in love with my best friends ex boyfriend. After a while i learned the difference between holding a hand and falling in love. i have made mistakes in my life, I have let people take advantage of me and i accepted way less than what I deserve, but i have learned from my bad choices and even though there are some things i can never get back and people who will never be sorry, ill know better next time and i wont settle for anything less than what i deserve. My future carrer is to be an accountant and to graduate from California State University of Channel Islands. I love my family for always supporting me and believeing in me, but especially for giving me my dream Mercedes-Benz. I also want to thank god for giving me what i have and for giving me this great life.

I want to become a nurse, so I can help those
who cannot help themselves. I love spending
time with my family and friends, because they
make me feel warm and happy inside. I like to
see peoples reactions when they say things
behind my back, and think that I wont be able to
understand them because of the way I look. On
my first day of kinder garden I fought with a mean
girl which I now call my best friend. As the days
go by I know my life will only get harder, as I get
closer to my goals.

I know my parents work long and hard hours everyday
so I that I am able to get the education, they were
not able to get. Although I have made many bad choices
over the years, that not only affect my life but the lives of
others, I don’t regret making any of them. I enjoy my job
because I have fun with my co-workers, and get to interact
with people, that are interesting and out going, but many
days work is hard work. My dog is small, sweet, and peaceful,
but don’t let her size fool you because she can be feisty when
she feels she has to send a message to anyone or anything.
As the years go by I tend to miss her more, but I am afraid I
will forget her face, smell and warm touch as time passes by.

all about me

I was the one that was born in the month that all children beg for candy. i know for sure that it was at the same time Oprah was coming on. my dog is my protector, i have held her in my hands and felt that she is truth worthy. I was waken up by the loud noise of the huge thunder storms in west Virginia. All thorough high school i was a head above the rest, always feeling like some people are against me. my mom cares for special needs children, but at the end of the day she is the one that i tell every thing to. 17 and 14 are the ages of my sisters. we always have our differences, but at times when we down, we can always go to each other for advice. my dad is a lion hearted who battled strong against the cancer that tried to take his life. when i wake in the morning I see him sitting on the couch, i know for sure that god has saved him and he is free. if i work hard i know for sure that i will be successful in college. I have never been to Spain, Greece, or China. The Great wall, is a place that i would like to visit one day. this year is my first year in college and i hope its the best!!
